Chuck Allen Floyd, Attorney at Law

Senior Member of the Entertainment, Business Transactional & Intellectual Property Sections

Chuck Allen Floyd negotiated his first entertainment deal by booking his own band into a bar Chuck was too young to enter. He has not stopped negotiating since. In the 30 years since Chuck’s first gig at the Rivermist Tavern in Konawa, Oklahoma, Chuck has worked as a staff songwriter for Clint Black’s Blacktop Music Group, as the owner an indie record label in the Texas/Oklahoma music market, and as a touring artist sharing the stage with artists ranging from Dweezil Zappa to Luke Bryan to Guy Clark.

After meeting the love of his life (at a truly special venue in Spring, Texas called Dosey Doe), Chuck shifted his focus from the creative side of the music industry to the business side. As an attorney, Chuck has assisted Grammy Award, Academy Award, and Country Music Hall of Fame recognized composers, producers, and artists draft and negotiate agreements with entertainment entities including Sony Music Entertainment, CBS Radio, Cumulus Media, Big Machine Records, BMG Publishing, Netflix, the Country Music Hall of Fame, and Ken Burns’ Florentine Films to name a few. He has also assisted a host of aspiring entertainers, composers, authors, and start-up entertainment companies transform their dreams into long-term, financially sustaining businesses.

When he’s not practicing law, Chuck’s interests still tend to revolve around the music industry. Chuck is currently assisting in the creation of a yearly festival to honor the legendary achievements of Cowboy Jack Clement as well as to benefit the Music Row Preservation Trust, a non-profit company dedicated to preserving the historic buildings of Music Row. Chuck also co-owns (with his old friend and Bluegrass star Billy Droze) RBR Entertainment, which will release Droze’s new album, “Renaissance”, in 2018.

To put it simply, Chuck Allen Floyd loves the entertainment industry. The politics, the history, the ups and downs, even the drama and occasional treachery. The packing of trucks, the arguments over band names, the all-night drives, and the radio tour stops. The writing, the players, and the venues. Chuck loves every bit of it and strives each day to utilize his decades of industry experience and network of contacts to be a change agent for his clients.
